I've built up layers of dried leaves and moss amongst bare twigs topped with bright yellow witch hazel flowers to mark the end of a long Winter and the start of Spring. Curling acer leaves mirror the curls of the witch hazel flowers. This piece comes out of the frame, like Spring just waiting to get going as the days grow longer.

  • A 19.25 x 15.25" grey frame encloses a 12" x 16" oval embroidery hoop set in a cream-coloured mount with textured light orange background
  • The overall depth is around 4cm. The flora project out of the frame—the artwork is not behind glass so you can appreciate the work's natural relief, texture, and sometimes the smell!
  • Can be hung using the sawtooth picture hanging on the back
