Inspired by a self-sown purple Cosmos in my garden, this piece nods to the unseen complexity of the simplest flowers using many woven stems as the veins of the petals. The frilly, imperfect ends of each petal are a Cosmos trademark and contrast with the bold centre. The background is layered, textured black oil paint on card and the piece is in a 32cm square frame.

  • The overall depth is around 5cm. The flowers project out of the frame—the artwork is not behind glass so you can appreciate the work's natural relief, texture, and sometimes the smell!
  • Black coloured tulle and textured black background
  • Can be hung using the wall fixing on the back
